imageboards kind of have a tree view built into them with how you can see replies to a post in the post header. You do have to hover over the numbers to actually see the posts though, so maybe it's more like a tree navigation system. The post number system is really good and it's crazy traditional believe forums with names and stuff never adopted it. I'm a chronological reply extremist, but even I'll admit it's not better in literally every case. If I had to toggle tree view on and off, I'd never turn it on, but being able to navigate like this for just one interesting reply or something is good.
